The Legio XIII SL group in Second Life. What is it?

Legio XIII SL is a group of recreation of a ancient roman army, in which everyone, from his home, can become an ancient roman soldier, thanks to the Second Life online platform.

HOW IT WORKS

After registering for free in Second Life and downloading its free "Viewer" program, each user will have their own little person, their own avatar, with which to visit the many worlds present in Second Life. By searching for the land called "Rome (SPQR)" you will be able to teleport your avatar into an ancient Roman city, recreated as faithfully as possible. By contacting other members of the group of people who animate this town, you will be able to receive the basic kit as a Roman Army Recruit. This one includes the roman army recruit outfit for your avatar, and all that you need to fight. With this kit, you will be able to fight, to attend to the meeting and to take part of the events of the group. All this ancient roman group was created by ancient roman experts, such as archaeologists, historians and a professor of Stanford University took part of this project.

ACTIVITIES

The activities of the group involve training of the soldiers, done following the main roman army movements/strategies. During these events are included also fights between the members of the group.

Historical conferences about ancient roman army is the other kind of activities that the group does.

The performance of each member of the legion group is evaluated periodically, and a decision is made as to decide who to promote and to what rank. Every rank has a different outfit.

Inside the legion's fort, there are small living huts available for legionaries. To own one of these small dwellings, you will have to pay a small monthly fee.
