Nero and the expedition to the source of the Nile

Seneca tells us that in the 63 A.D. the Emperor Nero organized a mission to reach the source of the Nile river. This mission was born for 2 reasons: exploring the area and evaluating the territorial wealth. This expedition was the first one to reach the equatorial Africa from Europe. It was formed by centuriones, soldiers and cartographers. From Rome they reached the Egypt and started to follow the course of the Nile. When they reached the city of Meroe, in the kingdom of Kush (nowadays south of Egypt and north of Sudan), they met the king of Ethiopia. He helped the Romans and was able to ensure them a safety travel trough the kingdoms nearby. Thanks to this help the expedition reached the Lake No (south of Sudan) and the waterfalls of Murchison, near Lake Alberto that is formed by the White Nile, that flows in the Lake Victoria.
